So you wonder who is behind Brussels-34? A secrete group missioned by the Belgian government to improve the image a Brussels? A new type of feminist activists? A bunch a dreamers? Or even a secrete association of bus drivers?

 

None of this. We are just 3 friends sharing the same first name. Well, to be very precise, there are 2 Carine’s, and 2 Karine’s. But we are 3. I swear. It’s just Karine la Blonde is kind of double, having Carine as an official first name because of some mistake committed when she was declared to the administration, but using Karine as her actual name. 

 

We are in average 42 years old, more or less, and this changes all the time anyway, so who cares. 

 

The blond Karine comes from Nice, Carine was born is Brittany, and the dark-haired Karine comes Champagne and has Burgundy wine flowing in her veins. Oops no, wait, it’s Burgundy blood. I think. Well, nobody is really sure. 

 

As Karine and Karine first met, well, believe it or not, Karine was sleeping in Karine’s bed. But Karine wasn’t in her bed. Karine simply had lent her apartment to Karine for the weekend…. and forgotten that she had done so…. This happened in Brussels in 2006, if my memory is good.

 

Carine and Karine met on a train platform at Brussels-South. This was in October 2015 and no coincidence. They had been introduced to each other via email through a mutual friend. 

 

Then Karine introduced Carine to Karine. Or was it the other way round? Not too sure.

 

There are 50 bus lines in Brussels, but we all happened to live along line 34. An now you know where the name of the blog comes from :-)

 

So why did we start this blog? Well, in very first place because the 2 Karine’s found Carine very talented and thought that they shouldn’t keep that for themselves!

 

Then because we love Brussels and we liked the idea of sharing some aspects of the Brussels’ life with you.
